                                                        Thermalator® Aqua Heat System

Is your furnace conventional or old standard - with an ever burning pilot light? These old furnaces work quite well - as long as they are mechanically sound, but they aren't very efficient - most of them are in the 55% range.  If you are looking for more efficiency there are a number of options open to you: You can spill 4-6 thousand dollars for a new high efficiency furnace and get a few hundred dollars in rebates from the federal government.  You can update the heat controls on your present system and produce greater efficiency out of your existing furnace system - this will probably cost you $350 - $450 – with no REBATES!
... or you can renovate your old furnace and turn it into a hot water heating system.  You can update your existing heating equipment by changing it into a THERMALATOR® AQUA HEAT Hot Water System - costing considerably less than a new furnace.
The hot water heating retrofit comes as a complete parts kit that you can self install, have a handyman friend install for you (usual piping and fittings, copper or plastic not included), or a days work for a hired plumber. The comfortable heat produced by a hot water system is a large part of its attraction - not to mention that the heat costs significantly less to produce and deliver.

Why is hot water heat best?

Water and air are the two mediums used to carry heat in most heating systems. Water is far superior because it is one of the best conductors of heat, meaning it is a lot easier to add heat to water and take heat out of water, than to do the same with air. This is one of the reasons it is more efficient.
The second advantage is that the water temperature can be accurately controlled to meet heat load and air exchange requirements. This allows for an easy adjustment to vary the temperature and flow of water to compensate for outdoor temperatures.

The type of heat produced by a hot water system is best because: "The warmed air is less dry as compared to the hot dry desert type heat produced by most forced air furnaces today. It really does create a more comfortable heat."  Water can also be circulated positively, even over long distances. A few mathematical calculations will easily determine the required pipe size and the water flow rate. Positive circulation means you can pump heat anywhere it is needed - no cold spots.

The heating load of every home and building changes with the outside temperature. In churches, auditoriums and manufacturing plants the heating load also changes with occupancy rates and ventilation requirements, because the temperature of water can be precisely controlled, it is easier to optimize comfort levels as conditions change.

While all of this may sound complicated, hot water heating systems are the easiest to automate for maximum comfort and economy. When using hot water, you get a more even heat, with less temperature fluctuation, improved comfort and lower heating costs. Hot water can be used to heat any public, agricultural or residential building.
Where can the Thermalator® Aqua Heat system be used?
Hot water can be used with any type of heating system: Radiant floor heating, baseboards, forced-air or any combination. For forced-air heating systems, a water to air heat exchanger (a special rad) is installed in the duct work.
